✨ Why I think websites can be magic for HSP creatives ✨

✨ Why I think websites can be magic for HSP creatives ✨

(And hopefully this will help you think about how you could better use your website
even if you don't book on to the workshop tomorrow!)

Hello there lovely Reader!

Past Ellie never thought I'd be running a workshop about using your website. Honestly, for years I bloody hated everything about my website 😅

I hated building it - it made my head hurt and made me feel stupid.

I hated paying for it - it was expensive and therefore a source of constant guilt about how I was underusing it.

I hated maintaining it - it was sooooo boring and tedious (uploading images was particularly annoying for some reason...the little bar sloooooowwwly inching to complete pressed my buttons!).

I was tidying my studio recently (I mean, when am I not and yet, somehow, it is never ever tidy 🤔). Under pile of unopened books on miniature carpentry I came across a sheet of paper which transpired to be an old 'to-do' list. It was a full A4 sheet covered with my spidery handwriting, and at the bottom was something that looked like this:

Obviously this is an artistic interpretation because I threw the list away/ it was way too embarrassing to publicly share.

What I found actually hilarious was the last item, which is exactly as was written on the original...

'Redo and update website'. 😂

Not only is it a textbook example of how NOT to write a 'SMART goal' (it is not Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, or Time-Bound, so a total 0/5 score there!). But it's the fact that it was this huuuuuge, intimidating, important task nestled under lots of smaller, but much more urgent tasks.

It was like the intention was there, but in a very non-committal kind of way because to be honest I wasn't really sure what my website was for at that point.

I mostly saw it as 'proof' I was an actual real genuine artist, a signpost to find me in other places, and a static portfolio to be begrudgingly updated once a year in a panic after applying for an opportunity.

However dear Reader, it is with delight - and a little shock- I can tell you that these days I edit my website several times a week, if not daily! 😮 And it (mostly) doesn't leave me with a headache.

I've actually come to believe that having a website is one of the most important things you can do as an HSP creative who is sharing your work with the world.

Why though? Well my top reasons are:

🌟 You get to create your own little world where people can experience you and your work exactly as you'd like them to.

🌟 You can put forward your most confident and self-assured deeper self. And it's not being 'fake'...you ARE that person, but on a website you don't have to deal with all the tripping-over-your-words and getting stress sweats when asked 'what do you do' face-to-face).

🌟 You can make your one website work for different audiences and different purposes (super useful for you multi-passionate creatives trying to squeeze all that abundant creative wonder into one social media account...or maintaining 5 different accounts 😅).

🌟 Your beautiful amazing work is being showcased on a site that you control, so even if there's an update by your webhost everything you create will still be relevant and discoverable for so. much. longer. then a social media page.

🌟 Plus lots of other cool reasons I can't fit into this email.

So instead I'll be explaining these and more in tomorrow's workshop 'Use Your Website To Share Your Creative Magic With The World' plus by the end of the 90 minutes you'll also...

✨ Understand why it’s so important to have an evolving website as a creative, and what it could bring to you.

Explore different website models to find one that will work for your creative vision.

✨ Identify how you can use your website to guide visitors to the pages you want them to see, whether they are potential funders, employers or customers.

✨ Clarify how you want to communicate with your visitors, so your words and images align with your message and amazing creative work

Navigate some of the common obstacles that get in the way for creative people, and approaches to manage these.

✨ Join me for a behind the scenes tour of my own website so you can learn and use all my strategies.

Use Your Website To Share Your Creative Magic With The World

Tuesday 21st March 2023

4.00pm - 5.30pm GMT

Sign up to the workshop and you will get:

☑️ A live 90 minute workshop with a replay of the presentation and workshop prompts.

☑️ A PDF workbook that you can use again and again as your work evolves.

Not only will I be sharing all the knowledge I've acquired in the last 15 years of working as an artist (and being highly sensitive myself) – it will be a creative, engaging and HSP conscious event as well!

Through guided activities and small group discussions* you'll finish the workshop with a plan of how you can use your website going forwards, and where you can find support to overcome blocks. You’ll feel clearer about what you could do with your website, and more confident about getting started! *(all group work is optional)

It's only £40 and you can give this event to a friend as a gift, or share the cost between you! When you sign up you’ll be sent a link in your confirmation email that they can use to sign up for free.

If you’d like to split the cost one of you will need to pay, but with the magic of Paypal it shouldn’t been too complicated to work it out between you :)

If you'd like to come along you can book your place using the button below!

Are you a busy bee who scrolled to the end? I'm running a super useful HSP friendly workshop on how to use your website and get your wonderful work out into the world tomorrow!
